Yes, I have never tried this way but it is very effective! Sketching is looking for possibilities. And I want us to do this exercise together:
* I opened Pinterest (if you don’t have an account on this platform, it’s about time …)
* looking for images of things that resonate with you: loose things, textures, characters such as animals or people, depending on what catches your attention. I thought maybe a small part of this can help you. If you have magazines at home, take advantage! because I no longer have it and that’s why I print to cut out.
* Start moving the cutouts on a piece of paper, there are combinations that you can’t even imagine!
* Complete with a pencil, fiber or marker. You can do what you can think of, it is totally a sketch. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It is only for you.

I paste them in a notebook, my sketchbook. In this way I am registering designs that later I will pass to the canvas, although not exactly, but very on that side.

I share these with you, which are the last ones I did and surely, 12 women will be part of the project.

If you make yours, I would like you to share them with me.

Collage is a technique that I discovered very recently at the suggestion of Gaby Martínez Castro, who is the curator who is accompanying this process that I am carrying out. I search the Internet for textures, plants, insects, jewelry, and women in different positions. As I cut and overlap the shapes and colors, they make sense, at least to me. It does not mean that the final painting is going to be exactly like this, but it gives me an idea of proportions, positions and combinations that I want in each job. I also did several digitally, but what to tell you, I’m an analog girl … Try making your own collages, look in magazines, search the computer, and print out various options. You were surprised by what the papers have to tell you.

This is undeniable: music is inspiring, it transports us, wakes us up, makes us move involuntarily … No matter what your favorite rhythm is, your band or your favorite soloist, they are there, they color moments and fill spaces, they stick to a memory like a sticker. Today, as it is very Monday, I give you this Playlist that inspires me, that fills me and awakens me, even the creativity that is lazy on Mondays …

Hola!!

Bienvenidos a La Casuni.

Hello!! I introduce myself here: my name is Valeria Cis, and I live in Argentina.
I always knew that art was my passion, I was feeding it with paint, pencils, papers, fabrics, and much, much coffee with milk. The place where I paint, where I spread all my work, my materials and my energy, I call La Casuni. Sometimes it is my study, sometimes a table on the island that is in front of Rosario where I go often, or on vacation at a beach. The truth is that La Casuni goes with me wherever I go.
For more than 20 years I have illustrated children’s books. I’m from the old school, the kind that still paint with a brush and paints, and not with a tablet or iPad. Because the smell of the paint, the tangible texture, and making mistakes and making it difficult to correct, is something unmatched.
During 2020, my painter impulse was invaded by large canvases that I was not used to: I even came to paint on tablecloths when one could not leave the house. Seeking to express myself as the river seeks to run along the road even though there is no road, I love it. I follow that impulse, even without really understanding why, because I believe that the creative impulse comes from something much bigger than ourselves, which has no explanation. But you have to follow it.
When I don’t paint, I really like being at home with my children. Plants, watching TV, and kayaking on the Paraná River.
Welcome to La Casuni. Come in and have a cup of latte, if you like …

Infinitas posibilidades.
Me decían?
