Hola, soy Valeria – Hello I’m Valeria
Hola!! Me presento por acá: mi nombre es Valeria Cis, y vivo en Argentina.
Siempre supe que el arte era mi pasión, la fui alimentando con pintura, lápices, papeles, telas, y mucho pero mucho café con leche. Al lugar en el que pinto, que desparramo todo mi trabajo, mis materiales y mi energía, lo llamo La Casuni. A veces es mi estudio, a veces una mesa en la isla que esta frente a Rosario a la que voy seguido , o de vacaciones en alguna playa. Lo cierto es que La Casuni va conmigo a donde yo vaya.
Desde hace mas de 20 años ilustro libros para chicos. Soy de la vieja escuela, de las que aun pintan con pincel y pinturas, y no con una tableta o iPad. Porque el olor de la pintura, la textura tangible, y equivocarme y que sea difícil corregir, es algo inigualable.
Durante el 2020, mi impulso pintor se vio invadido por lienzos de gran tamaño a los que no estaba acostumbrada: hasta llegue a pintar sobre manteles cuando uno no podía salir de su casa. Buscar expresarme como el río busca correr por el camino aunque no haya camino, me encanta. Yo sigo ese impulso, aun sin entender muy bien por que, porque creo que el impulso creador viene de algo mucho mas grande que nosotros mismos, que no tiene explicación. Pero hay que seguirlo.
Cuando no pinto, me gusta mucho estar en mi casa, con mis hijos. Las plantas, mirar tele, y remar en Kayak por el río Paraná.

Hello!! I introduce myself here: my name is Valeria Cis, and I live in Argentina.
I always knew that art was my passion, I was feeding it with paint, pencils, papers, fabrics, and much, much coffee with milk. The place where I paint, where I spread all my work, my materials and my energy, I call La Casuni. Sometimes it is my study, sometimes a table on the island that is in front of Rosario where I go often, or on vacation at a beach. The truth is that La Casuni goes with me wherever I go.
For more than 20 years I have illustrated children’s books. I’m from the old school, the kind that still paint with a brush and paints, and not with a tablet or iPad. Because the smell of the paint, the tangible texture, and making mistakes and making it difficult to correct, is something unmatched.
During 2020, my painter impulse was invaded by large canvases that I was not used to: I even came to paint on tablecloths when one could not leave the house. Seeking to express myself as the river seeks to run along the road even though there is no road, I love it. I follow that impulse, even without really understanding why, because I believe that the creative impulse comes from something much bigger than ourselves, which has no explanation. But you have to follow it.
When I don’t paint, I really like being at home with my children. Plants, watching TV, and kayaking on the Paraná River.
